Thank you for taking all of the great pictures of our father over the years. If not for you and all of the other photographers in racing our family would not be able to savor the great memories of what our Dad loved doing the most, and that was racing! That is why he was put here. I had the privilege of working with my Pop for a few years and even helped him win one of his five world championships. I knew how tough he was on the track. Most racers were beat before they pulled up beside him, but if someone needed his help or a race part he would be the first to help. That's the greatest thing about the drag racing family.
On another more serious note, racing is dangerous enough without having a "silent killer" in your body that has absolutely no symptoms. Most don't find out until it is too late. I would like to see it mandatory to check for prostate cancer before you can receive or renew your racing license "IN HIS HONOR".
SOX & MARTIN has done a lot of positive things for drag racing over the years. This could be yet another positive way to help in the prevention of prostate cancer among racers. I am asking NHRA, IHRA, NASCAR, AND ALL OTHER RACING ASSOCIATIONS TO MAKE RACING SAFER. Make it mandatory for all racers 30 years and older to receive a benchmark PSA blood test at age 30 and 35 and a full prostate screening annually starting at age 40 in order to be licensed to race. If this were a requirement 10 years ago, we would all still be watching "THE BOSS" go down the 1/4 mile. I know I loved to see him race! Thanks again!
My wife and I plan to continue those red, white, and blue colors, on our Duster, going down the strip for many years to come and my Pop will be right there with me. If anyone has any racing stories or memories they would like to share with my family and I my address is: Dean Sox, 351 Garner Chapel Road, Mt. Olive, NC 28365. | | |
PLEASE ALLOW OUR FATHER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE ONE MORE TIME IN THE BIGGEST WAY. HELP MAKE IT MANDATORY!
Thanks to all his fellow racers and fans!
